HI All,

I am spending the weekend relaxing and waiting for my Diagnosis this coming Tuesday. I want to Thank all my family and friends who have been by and brought food. I like the fact that we are eating well but losing weight. Over 10 pounds in the past week. Some of old clothes that have been hanging in my closet i can now wear. Better ways to lose weight.

I also want to Thank everyone for the beafutiful Cards and Letters. Especially the one from my Daughter - Abby. She can write such beautiful card that means so much to her Dad.

Anyway not much to report until next week.

Kirste is coming home on Monday (Spring break from UT) and Aby may fly from Austin, Texas to see her Dad next weekend while she is on Spring Break. Waht a lucky DAD i am...

  2. Hi everyone,
I am trying to keep this blog updated but it is hard when I am only posting comments, so I hope everyone is getting this. Judy sent an email out today about Uncle Bills diagnosis, so I am going to copy and paste what I have. Please keep Uncle Bill in your thoughts and especially your prayers.
    Love Always,

    Diagnosis: Mantle Cell Lymphoma

Chemotherapy: Starts Tuesday, March 16th after he receives more blood products

Hey guys, here is the update from today’s meeting with Oncology Group and Bill’s plan of care that took three hours to go over. I have created a large distribution list and if you want to forward this to others, please feel free to do so. We sure appreciate all the prayers and support you have given to us. We are both so amazed at the giving spirit of everyone and truly are two blessed people to have such wonderful friends and family.

Bill had his port for chemo put in on Thursday afternoon. His platelets were so low (and he got them the day before) that they had to give him more during surgery). At any rate, that got done, so he is ready to start chemo.

Here is our challenge for the first cycle and we need your prayers for smooth progression of the first cycle. One of the first chemo drugs he will get directly hits the cancer cells in his bone marrow. The cancer cells comprise 90% of his bone marrow. When the drug hits those cells, it breaks them down and other things are released into his system…setting off a variety of responses. He can have extreme chills or fever, but there is a plan to combat these things. It will be really, really tough the first time with this drug. Then there are three more days of different drugs. Bill was overwhelmed with all the information, but Jan, Keith, his Mom and Rosa Jane and I took notes so we know what to watch for and will be on top of it. Please, please keep us in your thoughts.

This is the information we learned at our Chemo Class Instruction Session today

1- Admit to hospital Tuesday to start chemo

2- He will receive chemo four days.

    3. He will have 21 days between cycles and he has to do this eight times.

    4. They have requested no visitors since he does not need to pick up any infections as his immune system will be very compromised.

    5. He loves cards and if you want to send them to the house, I can bring them to him each day… 7 Wayland Court, Johnson City, TN 37604

    6. I will be off work a lot with him, and if you need daily update, please contact Rita Medlin (423) 926-1171 (x2733) or Sherry Williams (x7102) for the latest.
